These are Polly Teale's words. The response to her question is the basis for her imaginative and innovative adaptation of Charlotte Brontė's world famous romantic novel Jane Eyre. Polly Teale's powerful dramatisation shows. The struggle Jane experiences, torn between the repression of her innermost feelings and the desparate need to speak out.
Her creator, Charlotte Brontė, spent most of her life in a remote Yorkshire village. Yet, like Jane, she yearned to live beyond the limitations of her restricted horizons. It was this desire to express her emotions and dreams of fulfillment that led her, through the written word to create her literary masterpieces.
