Written in 1993, Playhouse Creatures is based on the lives of five Restoration actresses. Set in a London playhouse in 1670, it tells the moving and often comic story of these women, the first ever to appear on the English stage,as they bravely struggle to bring a new and talented voice to the theatre and to be recognized as more than playhouse creatures.
