October 2008
Dear Friends,
Greetings and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
We are now well into rehearsals for the much anticipated Persephone's production of Shakespeare's great tragedy Othello!
I have assembled a wonderful company. You can check the cast bios on our website and see the team for yourself.
VENUE
We are especially pleased that Othello will be performed in the wonderful ambiance of the McCord
Museum from November 13 - 29, 2008.
TICKETS
Thanks to one of our industrious board members, Judith Schurman, nearly all the matinées
have been sold! There are still seats available for the matinée on Sunday, November 23 at 2pm.
We still have eleven evening shows to sell tickets for, so join us in making this
a sold out run! Benefit from our group rate by organizing a group of 10 or more!
FUNDRAISING
I am sure that many of you feel as discouraged as I do by the savage cuts to various
funding for the Arts. The Canadian government has a deeply disappointing and sad perspective
on the value of all our Artists that act as special ambassadors for Canada.
This means we, in our various communities, must take responsibility to generate
our own funds in order to sustain our cultural environment.
Please show you care by making a donation to Persephone. Your contribution will help
to continue to produce good theatre and support our dedicated young professional artists.
Furthermore, there is a small deficit to cover before the opening of Othello. Your donation
will help defray this loss. All donations are tax deductible.
SPECIAL INCENTIVE
For any donation of 100$ or more you will receive a complimentary ticket to the performance
of your choice. Make sure we have your address!
FUTURE PROGRAMMING
April 2009 - Persephone Productions will present Cherry Docs by well known Canadian playwright David Gow.
ANNIVERSARY!
Did you know that Persephone Productions will celebrate its tenth year of operation in 2010?
For this great occasion we will plan a fundraising event. Does anyone have a celebrity friend
or family member who might give their services for an evening? A famous actor, musician, film star, politician, etc?
We are also looking for a dedicated volunteer to spearhead this special fundraising event.
If you have the time and the experience, please contact me either by phone 514-481-1327
or by email at persephoneproductions@gmail.com
I looking forward to seeing you very soon
Warmest wishes,
Gabrielle Soskin
